Welcome
Hey! I’m Madeleine.
I’m a senior at the University of Mississippi pursuing a degree in journalism at the School of Journalism and New Media. Throughout my college career so far, I have had many experiences in reporting, producing and politics that has given me valuable industry experience.
This website is filled with my field of interest experiences (portfolio). I am so glad you are here and I hope you enjoy learning about me.
I’m a currently the News Director/Station Manager for NewsWatch Ole Miss, a student run broadcasting network for the University of Mississippi and surrounding areas. Last semester I was the Graphics Producer and the year before I was a reporter/correspondent.
This past summer, I was honored to have an internship with FOX 26-KRIV Houston. Where I worked the Morning Show with entertainment reporter Ruben Dominguez. I worked from 6AM to 2:30PM Monday through Friday, and was responsible for picking out assignments, creating my own packages, and pitching stories at daily editorial meetings.
Last semester, I was one of the few students who started a new on-campus digital newscast for HottyToddyNews.com There I was responsible for creating the graphics, the new opening, serving as top producer, anchor, and reporter. I created over 14 weekly shows with two of them being special shows. The first was about Ole Miss Graduation during a pandemic. The second show was in partnership with Gray News Network and was about Health in Mississippi; “Mississippi Health Divide.”
For my sophomore year, I was selected to attend Lens Collective a multimedia storytelling workshop, where only a select few get in the program. During my time at the workshop I was able to learn from prestigious photographers and videographers who mentored me every step of the way. The goal of the program was to film and edit a documentary on Adobe Premiere Pro in about 24 hours. My documentary was called ‘Grain to Glass,’ you can find it in my portfolio.
In August of 2019, I started working for TEDxUniversityofMississippi on the marketing team. I actively ran the social media accounts including the website. The event took place on February 29th, 2020. It was a huge success!
Lastly, I finished a position as social media chair for my sorority Alpha Phi in August of 2021. I ran the social media accounts for the sorority including instagram, Twitter, Facebook, the website, and Tik Tok. I was able to accomplish all of my goals by adding more features to posts, IGTV videos, and stories to attract a more valuable following.
